Trick or Treat 2011

As previously mentioned, Sophie HAD to go as Tinkerbell this year and we are very grateful to Suzi who purchased all the necessary necessities to make that happen. She started out kinda shy, but it didn't take long before she told me "Mommy, you stay there... I do it". And of course everyone just loved her and her costume.

Brian unfortunately had class so missed out on her first real opportunity to trick or treat. He did however call and tell Sophie he was thinking of her.

So, these videos were made for him in mind. And well... for you too if you want to see Sophie in action.

And yes... Sophie has decided she LOVES Halloween. We'd get done with one house and Sophie would say "I want to do more". It got to the point that half way through the night, we had to empty her bucket in the wagon because it was too full. On the way back home, she filled it back up again leaving us with an excessive amount of candy.

Anyone know how to get rid of all of this?

Happy Halloween All!

Fall Family Fun

Today was just a wonderful day. We woke up to cold frosty weather and pumpkins on sale for $1.88 (no matter their size). Sophie picked a medium sized one because she liked the sticker saying (Grown in New Mexico). I dug a bit and found a really big one. And then got another one for Brian. Three in all.

Once we got home, Sophie decided she wanted the 'big one'... so we swapped.

Mine, obviously, became Bull Schitt.

Sophie wanted a kitty, so we worked together.

Brian wasn't too particular about his pumpkin was we picked out something for him.

It was a nice family activity.

And we finished the evening with my homemade chocolate chip cookies and watching the Disney movie Lilo & Stitch.

One Sick Schitt

This morning I woke up to the news that the Rangers lost the World Series. I'm not a huge baseball fan, but I was rooting for them to win. Anyway, when we went outside this morning we were met with another surprise. Apparently someone was a bit more devestated by the Ranger's loss and was lying in our yard intoxicated and covered with vomit.

Luckily he was alive... just sick. Very sick. In fact, some of his guts are on our front porch.

And who was this that got sick on our front porch steps? Apparently his name is Bull Schitt. I didn't ask if he was related to Jack or Dip, but he did mention he was a Texan. All I can say is that I hope very shortly he leaves... with all his parts intact.

A Fairy Fall Festival

In previous Halloweens I was able to get by with dressing Sophie up in whatever I chose or found. This year, oh no... she HAD to be Tinkerbell. No ifs, ands, or buts. She was going to go as Tinkerbell. Aunt Suzi who was sympathetic to her recent obsession decked out her room (which she now calls her Tinkerbell room) and purchased for her a Tinkerbell costume. She couldn't have been happier.

Now usually it takes Sophie a good 5 to 10 minutes to get out of bed in the morning. That doesn't include going potty, getting dressed, eating breakfast... this only entails getting out of the actual bed. So when I was running late this morning I was hoping Sophie wouldn't be her usual sluggish self. And luckily for me she was able to wear her costume today, so when I enter her room and ask if she's ready to get up and get dressed in her Tinkerbell dress, she hopped out of bed in seconds.

In addition to letting kids wear their costumes, they had their Fall Festival this evening. She was hesitant at first. Finally after finding Ms. Sharon (one of her current teachers), who coaxed her into a game and candy.

She settled in to doing the rest of the activities.

Even asked for Ms. Tasha to give her balloons at the Face Painting station.

I even informed her how it was important as a 1/2 Barton to do the Cake Walk. We unfortunately did not win cake, but I think it was because the Bartons were not all present and exerting the full force of 7+ upon the game. Perhaps next time....

She got to eat 1 candy (a packet of Skittles) before going to bed, where I hope she'll wake up forgetting about the rest of the candy in her bag. Really don't need a sugar overload.
