Most of what I know about ladybugs are limited. I know that not all ladybugs are ladies. That they are cute with red shell and black spots. And that they can fly. The end.
What I did not know (until now obviously) that during winter months, they will often migrate to light colored homes in the winter time to escape the cool months ahead. They are attracted to warm south facing rooms in your house. They will gather together and hibernate in a large group. During this time they will only sleep- not eat nor lay eggs.
And then once the warm weather returns, they too will return outside.
So until then, we have some new household guests who will be staying with us for awhile.
